Evaluation of Non-Intrusive Traffic Detection Systems for Incident Management on Arterial Streets
Phase 1 of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) FDOT District 6 Arterial Travel Time and Incident Detection included a review of the technologies and methods used to estimate travel time and detect incidents on arterial streets. The review was based on previous reports, technical papers, vendor brochures, and discussion with vendor representatives. Recommendations were given regarding the technologies and products for use to estimate travel time and incident detection on FDOT District 6 arterials.
Phase II task will include a comprehensive field evaluation of the selected vendor technologies used to estimate travel time and detect incidents on arterial streets. This phase will include the following tasks:
- Development of evaluation and test plans
- Coordination with FDOT and vendors
- Performing the field tests
- Conducting data analysis
- Preparing a final report
